About Devil's Claw

Devil's claw is a plant native to South and Southwestern Africa. This plant gets its name from the thorny, claw-like hooks that cover the ripe fruit. The plant has been found to have healing properties and was introduced to Europe in the early 1900s. Today, devil's claw is used in the treatment of joint pain, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gout problem. It secondary root contains the concentration of the active ingredients: Harpogoside and Beta Sitosterol, which possess anti-inflammatory properties to ease joint, ligament and tendon pain.

Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Properties

Research has shown that devil's claw aids in reducing swelling in the joints and eases joint stiffness which is usually due to arthritis or gout. Its analgesic effects are also help in relief of pain, commonly in the lower back, thereby improving mobility, especially beneficial to older people.

Apart from alleviating pain and swelling, it was also observed to reduce the uric acid levels. High uric acid in the body can cause gout, another form of painful joint disease.
